I said this in the introduction to this challenge / Journey, but it bears repeating:
Choose one thing from the list. You are welcome to do more if you like; but this is not intended to burden your time, and resources. Each week we will offer a new list of steps Do that which will benefit your household best. If you do anything at all, you will be better off for it. This journey is asynchronous so you can begin this journey anytime throughout the year. In fact I first invited people to join the journey mid February. I recommend starting at the beginning, No need to play catch up. You can start by checking out the “challenge” introduction or jump in at Week One
Happy prepping!

Food*:
1 gal vegetable oil
And/Or
One 16 oz container powdered milk
And/Or
3 boxes granola bars
Household:
2-3 manual can openers 9 one for 72 hour kit. One for larger food storage supply. One for kitchen if you use an electric one.
72 hour kit:
Ziplock bag w/toothbrush, toothpaste and toiletry items for each kit. If you have girls entering puberty, you may want to include feminine products since you may not update this kit for 6 (recommended) to 12 ( sometimes more likely) months.
Emergency $
Add $6 to your emergency money ziplock bag (in each 72 hour kit if possible)
Family Prep:
Sit down with family to discuss local disaster possibilities. Talk to children about what to do in the most common events that might happen. Also, consider containing their shoes, gloves and flashlight in a mesh bag and hang it beside/on their bed.
Water**
Purchase 2 bottles water purification tablets
3 gallons drinking water to your storage
*Food is personal and people have different dietary needs/restrictions and tastes. For example, my household has medical restrictions on sodium, potassium, and high phosphorus foods. We are also advised to eat fresh as much as possible. So we look for lower sodium options in some canned foods and we limit foods higher in potassium, and phosphorus (like peanut butter). As Always, You know your household’s needs best. Modify to suit your needs.
** It would be great if you can add water to your supply each week.
