I said this in the introduction to this challenge / Journey, but it bears repeating:
Choose one thing from the list. You are welcome to do more if you like; but this is not intended to burden your time, and resources. Each week we will offer a new list of steps Do that which will benefit your household best. If you do anything at all, you will be better off for it. This journey is asynchronous so you can begin this journey anytime throughout the year. In fact I first invited people to join the journey mid February. I recommend starting at the beginning, No need to play catch up. You can start by checking out the “challenge” introduction or jump in at Week One
Happy prepping!

Food*:
20 lbs. sugar or honey
And/Or
Ten 15oz. cans of vegetables
And/Or
Five 1lb. packages of dried beans
Household:
Dish soap for 3 months
72 hour kit:
1 change of clothing (pants, shirt, socks, underwear) keep clean and dry in large zip lock bag for each person. If you have done this task each day you now have $6. Small bills will be better that large bills, especially when trying to purchase supplies during a power outage. When power is out, credit card machines and registers will not be working. Cash will be king.
Emergency $
Add $3 to the emergency fund ziplock bag in your 72 hour kit (even better if you can do this for each 72 hour kit.)
Family Prep:
Obtain a "family utility box" -action packer cooler with wheels, cardboard box, large storage tote with lid, etc.
Water**
Add water to your storage
collect empty gal. vinegar/liter soda bottles, laundry/dish soap containers, for non drinking water
*Food is personal and people have different dietary needs/restrictions and tastes. For example, my household has medical restrictions on sodium, potassium, and high phosphorus foods. We are also advised to eat fresh as much as possible. However, there are lower sodium options in some canned foods so I am mindful of that. As we look at protein sources as some of them are more appropriate for our particular diet than are others. As Always, You know your household’s needs best. Modify to suit your needs.
** Water: it would be great if you can add water to your supply each week. Make sure you are adding to your drinking water supply not all Some, but not al water has to be drinking water. Besides cooking and drinking, you will be washing clothes, dishes, and tending to hygiene needs. If you use larger laundry, vinegar, or soda bottles, you can wash these out and use them to store your non-potable water. The soda bottles can be used for your drinking water as well.
